Norfolk Fire and Rescue responded to a medical call involving a 5 month old female having breathing difficulties. The child was transported to CHKD where she was admitted in serious condition.
A medical evaluation of the child has determined that the baby may have been shaken and police were notified. Police began an investigation that resulted in charges against the father for aggrevated malicious wounding. Darrell Marvin Brown Jr. was taken into custody on November 22nd.
Investigators were advised that the baby died from her injuries on November 24th around 5:45pm while still at CHKD. Additional charges are pending against the father who remains in custody in the Norfolk city jail.
